Okay, be honest: how many of you pack anything besides jeans and
t-shirts? Perhaps the occasional dress for an #OOTD opportunity? If you’re
looking to shake up your style and try out different looks, then your next
holiday is the best time to experiment with new outfits!
Here’s a cheatsheet with some must-haves you should pack in your
bag so you can easily mix and match outfits during your travels:
1. Tops
Simple, basic tops such as this one are the perfect staples for
build your outfit on. To make it easier for you to mix and match, keep to
neutral colors or similar color palettes, such as pastels.
PRO-TIP: Plan
your travel wardrobe around a specific color story – a color scheme comprising
complementary colors.
2. Trousers
Loose, wide-legged trousers such as culottes are hot-ticket
items at the moment, and best of all, they offer plenty of room to move around
for when you need to get from Point A to Point B to Point C in your itinerary.
3. Skirts or shorts
If you’re going somewhere with warm, sunny weather, you may want
to bring along a skirt or a pair of shorts to give your legs some breathing
space.
PRO-TIP: It’s
easy to overlook, but don’t forget to slather sunscreen – and if necessary,
insect repellant – on your legs. You can thank us later.
4. Cardigan or jacket
Feeling a bit chilly? Make sure you have a cardigan or light
jacket to keep warm, especially if you’re traveling somewhere during the autumn
season. Jackets are also a great way to pep up your OOTD.
5. Sundress
Planning to take some lovely glamor shots for Instagram during
your trip? A striking sundress is one of the best ways to look stylish without
much effort on your part. Bright, cheerful colors and patterns are great, as
are flowy maxi dresses. However, if you need to dress up for a night out, you
can never go wrong with a Little Black Dress.
6. Bag
You’ll need a small bag or purse to keep your essentials as you
zip around from one place to another during your travels, so why not go with
something classy like this mini? Its wide, adjustable strap makes it a cinch to
carry around.
7. Hat
Keep the sun off your face with this open-weave boater hat,
which allows for plenty of air circulation so your head can stay cool.
8. Slip-ons
A multi-purpose pair of slip-on shoes will go a long way,
especially when you’re going through security at the airport. (You haven’t
experienced stress and anxiety until you hold up a line at security as you
hurriedly take off a pair of boots, with everyone throwing you annoyed looks.)
You’ll be doing a lot of walking as well, so they’d better be comfortable! This
pair, with an eye-catching embroidery detail, adds a bit of ‘pop’ to your look.
9. Sandals
Going somewhere warm and sandy? You’ll definitely want to pack a
pair of sandals, as knocking sand out of your covered shoes is a bit tedious
and never-ending. This cute pair will go well with any outfit!
10. Sunglasses
If the sun keeps getting in your eyes, all you need is a pair of
chic sunnies to add a touch of mystery and sophistication to your style. Try
these Aviators on for size!
11. Statement Jewelry
Last – but certainly not least – add the finishing touch to your
look with some statement jewelry, such as these pretty beaded earrings.
